Whistling past the graveyard
I have been going to and serve in alliance churches for 30 years. I have extensive connections and I love the foundation of the alliance. This is going to sound harsh but no one else is saying what the reality is in the alliance and I’m reminded as I write this that Winston Churchill won world war 2 because he had a group of people dedicated to bringing him bad news. The leadership of the Alliance today has stepped its toe into the same thing that the other larger mainline denominations have done for 60 years which killed them. which is to decide that biblical leadership is kind of mailable and the world is changing so we need to adjust. They have allowed the worlds business strategies mixed with an poisonous view that the Bible isn’t really saying anything rock solid other than “god is love” to take hold of the denomination. This goes right along with the fact that most pastors and leadership are no longer steeped in scripture as was the case with previous generations. Now every time I hear alliance pastors and leaders talk about the denomination it’s basically a positive self help talk with all kinds of word manipulation, justification, blaming Covid and zero straight forward frankness about the reality of the alliance’s situation. all kinds of heady language like like “reimagined” and “missional” and “diverse” they are ignoring the fact that they are bleeding money and membership is declining this denomination at the moment is digging its own grave and becoming irrelevant (my church has lost probably 50% of its members) Grass withers flowers fade and denominations will shrink and disappear but the word of the lord remains FOREVER. So if the Alliance wants to recover from what it lost to the ravens of a soft view of Gods word then it may need to gut itself of all of the worlds ideas and get back on the solid rock of Gods word.
