Review, Pros and Cons
In a short time the Eventhubs podcast has outgrown it's role as a companion piece to its namesake website and has grown into a standalone piece of media. Initially the podcast was an expanded conversation on current news articles, which implies that they are typically opinion neutral pieces that lead to an expanded discussion in the comments section of the site. In the show's development we have seen a blend of journalistic reporting along with personal opinions broken down between hosts John and Jon. The dynamic of these two works well as they each at times represent different aspects of fighitng game players in our modern landscape: mostly online due to real life vs competitor grinding it out, experienced veteran vs modern up and comer, a witness to the rise, fall, rise of fighting games and one that became more involved in the most recent ascension. The dialogue that comes from this presents facets rarely seen in just an ariticle on the website alone. The addition of Steven (another website contributor) in the larger round table discussions only multiplies the value of those particular episodes. The interviews that Jon has conducted have been rather well done and I have found them more enjoyable and to have a better flow than some delivered by other contemporary FGC interviewers. Overall it is an entertaining and informative listen for people that enjoy the Eventhubs site, podcasts about gaming news, or fans of fighting games. Still waiting on that mysterious Evo history story though... Pros: -They don't talk over each other. It is a discussion, not an arguement. -Credibility and Experience from the hosts that may provide insight to your own gaming -Great interviews -Even better roundtable discussions -Objectivity and passion (may be seen as salt on occasion) are both present in topics discussed -Expanded reasoning on WHY articles are written (a valid excuse vs "clickbait") -No comments section regulars or trolls Cons -Hosts Jon and John primarily play SFV at the time of this review. If you are not interested in SFV, this may not be for you. (As of time of this review) -Haven't heard from as many contributors of the website, yet. This of course means less in depth podcast coverage of other games that the hosts aren't currently playing. -Although speculation of the future is important, especially for news outlets, I personally think there have been a few too many mentions of SF6 as an idea. -No comments section regulars or trollsRead full review »

Like a delicous roast, the topics on this podcast are baked to perfection with all the fixings. Take a hot seat at the Fighting Game Community table, pour a fine glass of wine, take the salt shaker and remove it from the table. You're about to sink your teeth into a juicy piece of what...Read full review »

I enjoy listening to the Johns insight and discussions. I’m not a SF player but I feel what they talk about helps me to think about how I play and practice fighting games I enjoy playing in a different light to help me improve. I’ve been listening every week since I discovered this great podcast.
