This is the start of something special. His use of voice actors and additional sound effects— which is usually done poorly in history podcasts in my opinion— is done perfectly. Great storytelling, research, and delivery.

Has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts. It does run long, but I like the in depth and detailed histories. Primary sources are used and the music enhances the content - love the music and am glad it is not too intrusive. There are so many people and items I want to search after listening.

This podcast blends sources and overview seamlessly. You get immersed in the time period he’s discussing in a way that few other history podcasts can pull off. I live this podcast but when the author reads ancient quotes he usually strange voices that are supposed to mimic perhaps the voice of the character who wrote it but often they sound corny to me and Mayans and Egyptians sound remarkably similar.
