An enjoyable 30 minutes… no more
This is an updated review on a previously 4-star one. Previously I wrote that "after a shaky start the podcast has found its footing with good chemistry and banter with people who obviously like movies. Don't think your downloading film reviews, as usually only 1 out of 3 of the presenters have actually seen the film - yet there is a certain charm to the way they discuss cinema, whether classic or new. Think of this as a comedy podcast first and film one later." Now I am getting increasingly frustrated with Danielle who seems to believe that this show doesn't matter at all. If you really can't be bothered to see any of the films your discussing, can we get someone else instead who may show an interest. Not to see four of the movies in a row is just ludicrous if your going to host a podcast where your only job is to watch and talk about them. I enjoy listening to Danielle on Dave Gorman's show, but this podcast is becoming pretty dull and pointless. Why should Absolute continue funding this excuse for movie/comedy analysis when there money could be better spent investing in talent for it's radio stations? David Reed is enjoyable enough if not a little bland and generic for audio broadcasting. Poor effort guys. For a great comedic take on cinema hosted by a guy and a gal try out "Movie Date" from The Takeaway. These two could take a few pointers from that podcast-only show, again funded by a radio station.

More reviews of Film Fandango
with affable hosts and guests, I have found this to be a very enjoyable podcast. while the segments about new releases are solid, I tend to find the part where they discuss their guest's film submission to be particularly engaging. it's a keeper for sure!

One of the only film podcasts that doesn't exclude the listener who may not actually be involved in the film making process therefore not caring for film snobbery. Thankgood somebody gets that we (or at least I) don't won't a film snob I won't a knowledgeable film fan.

Danielle Ward is pleasant and funny and the main reason to tune into this. I very much wish they would spend more time on the featured review. I don't think the bit where the guest brings in an old movie adds much. It would be better to be guest-less and spend the full episode on the main review...Read full review »
