Does the host realize that a children’s show with an openly gay man would have never been put on TV in 1969? Homosexuality was widely considered a mental illness and illegal in 49 states. A tortured, abused and outcast poor child in a rich school full of athletic kids much bigger and stronger than me, each day was a matter of just survival.
