Interesting concept but kind of boring after first 10 minutes
I feel like the moral of every story is “it’s complicated” and “yes, I don’t have a view that fits neatly in a box.” But after you learn about the person’s point of view and why they hold it, the rest of the episode just kind of drags on with pointless questions that don’t really give you more information about that person. By twenty minutes, the listener is just like “we get it! This person has a seemingly contradictory viewpoint,” which isn’t as “rare” as people think. I think most people forget that most Americans aren’t die-hard partisans who align with their political party or ideological group on every issue. It’s a fine podcast, could be shorter.

One that has made me question, criticize, empathize, cry, laugh and learn a bit more about the human experience in this lifetime. Thank you to Lulu and the New York Times for this deeply impactful work.

Listened to a few episodes and found them to be long and absolutely pointless. A total waste of time.

Thank you for your reporting on obesity. It challenged my beliefs about how to treat obesity and the biases I hold about people who are obese. I particularly love the way Lulu draws out the guest, giving us a look at how they came to understand what they now believe. Brilliant approach.
