I love this show. This is not your standard type of food show, and definitely not a cooking show. If you dig history, nerding out on subjects, side tracks, and so on, you should love this show. It has a down to earth feel. You may find yourself craving all different kinds of things.

I have been listening, and doing brain dances, since episode one. Whilst very US centric, and it never pretended to be oterwise, it isn't always and regardless I have hearnt and laughed all the way along, Many episodes are now on my "never be deleted" list. Definitely a two-thumbs up...Read full review »

And inarticulate. Uhhmmmm, uh and uh maybe the content interesting but this duo seriously needs to work on diction, pacing, pauses. Made it to every single photo and gave up.

I've enjoyed the episodes with no interviews the best. It's all very interesting.Read full review »

This show has potential; however, I would highly recommend Gastropod instead. Once you finish there then come here as you wait for more Gastropod episodes.

Are the other reviewers listening to the same podcast? There’s so many at the top saying “I hate listening to two of the sweetest people have a fun chat about food together” like bruh. Can I be a hater real quick? To those reviewers: How does it feel to be broken inside? It boggles my mind that...Read full review »

In general I like the show! Some parts of the episodes are very slow but others are interesting! I suspect this may be based on your interest. I like the history and timeline but get bored with a lot of the other components. Sometimes they get of track with things I don’t care about but it is...Read full review »

I LOVE this podcast! I feel like Anny and Lauren are friends of mine! I write in quite a bit and they finally did my requested episode! Taylor ham! I’m still looking for my grandmother’s tomato soup cake recipe! I plan on writing in soon. 10 out of 10

They deserve at least a 4.5, 1. Their pod is good and 2. They read my letter :D

It is interesting hearing the history about all the foods/drinks. But the hosts laugh way too at things which are not even funny - it’s almost like an awkward reaction to one another.

As a foodways historian, I love listening to anything related to the topic. This would be one of my more favorite podcasts but I just cannot stomach listening to the hosts. The over-the-top vocal “flourish” that they add to just about everything is incredibly annoying. Can you please just use a...Read full review »

I do detest a “jokey” podcast that isn’t funny. Clearly these well meaning foodies took their cue from infotainment shows like Stuff You Should Know where the riffing is fast and loose. But if you’re not funny, you’re not funny. Forcing it ends up like this all cringe all day. Take a 5 year...Read full review »

Regarding the Victory garden do. They keep saying that encouraging people to garden propaganda? ‘gardening was good for their character…and Americanizes them.’ (The horror!) -and this is after they mention that we were mostly immigrants who farmed in our nations of origin. So then, didn’t...Read full review »

The topics covered look great but they are disappointingly shallow—the hosts are exhausting to listen to. Unlike some other reviewers I feel the 4.3 is generous.

Love this pod- one of my favorites! Your episode on lamb cakes brought back such wonderful memories for me. Love the show!! You girls work hard on your research and I truly appreciate it! Have you covered lentils as a topic? There are so many! And so many cultures use them a little differently. Keep on keepin’ on ladies!

Great information. However somewhat turned off with the presentation. While you’re dealing with a serious topic the laughing, joking and cackling is a bit annoying. Thanks

It took me awhile to come around to listening to this podcast but I’m so glad I did. Just listened to the Hot Toddy episode and it seemed like neither show hosts wanted too be doing a show about this drink. Seems like they are just googling and making podcasts about foods they don't know about. Not engaging.Read full review »

I used to really love this show and still enjoy the content; however, the school girl cackling by the hosts as reached an all-time annoyance. One of the hosts has never tried most of the items they talk about- and she still doesn’t even when doing an episode! The other one is allergic to most of them. So tell me why they host a food show? I too prefer the older podcasts that were all about food. They were awesome! Lately it’s evolved to more of a scolding about American culture in general. Lots of scolding mixed with forced laughter. Used to be rich with detailed information and now not so much.

Anney and Lauren are great hosts- I love that the show follows the same basic format every episode, so there's that procedural feel where you know what you're getting and when.
