Michael Adams brings the past to life which is a cliche, however but he demonstrates why it’s so important that we continue to learn from our past and continue to teach history in school.

It is clear how well-researched every episode is, with details that really bring to life the era. It’s also so refreshing to hear Aussie content. I’m so sick of podcasts with mainly American content!!

Such an interesting podcast, one of my favourites, and I could listen to Michael’s voice all day. He’s a great storyteller and it’s so clever the way major and everyday events are woven together. I’d particularly recommend the three part story of The Birdman of Adelaide Gaol.
Ariam2 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 08/06/23
Fascinating true stories of the not so distant past, very well researched and professionally presented.

So well researched. Sad that some people here have taken issue with minor pronunciation topics like some sort of nasty hobby. I’d like to see them do better at a podcast of this degree of detail and effort. Would be good if those people (the person who didn’t like how Cairns was pronounced) would...Read full review »

There is something so unique about the presentation of this podcast. Great narration style, subtle but atmospheric sound effects and a deep dive into the events and people of the past. It really does transport me. My absolute favourite podcast. Brilliant!

Not sure what these people are complaining about with Michael’s voice. His tone is excellent and suits the stories he’s telling.. The writing and research is ten times better than other crimeand history shows. Plus most of these stories I’ve never heard of , and they’re Australian!
Muffin 2005 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/29/23
Great stories, great research but, as someone else commented, the reading is wooden, each sentence ending in a falling inflection. This gives the impression of the reader being bored or tired. Please put a bit of OOMPH!! into this otherwise excellent and unique offering. Thanks.
Sewelli via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/27/23
Whoever is reading this needs to stop ending his sentence like he does sooo annoying

I’ve just found this podcast and spent the last few days binging so many of these episodes. They hit different. The stories, the people and their lives tend to stay with me in my thoughts long after the podcasts are over. Not sure why these are so profoundly compelling, my guess is that it’s the...Read full review »

Good listening, interesting and very well researched. Perfect company while walking or driving. Have now got my 89yo Pop on board who remembers some of these events in the papers back in the day. Right in his sweet spot 😊

I can’t get over the idiot who gave this podcast one star because of the way Michael pronounced Cairns. Get over yourself. This podcast is a rare gem.

The narrator goes to great lengths to get facts and details that make you truly feel in the moment, like you know the victims or perpetrators. Love this podcast!

Hi Michael, love the podcast! So much so that I’ve subscribed. I’m having trouble listening to the subscriber content through apple podcasts. Is it easier to go through your supporter page than it is through apple? Thanks, Jenn

Wanted to listen but cannot cope with the mispronunciation of Cairns. It is not CANS.

Free well researched and thought out Podcasts. Best part is it is Australian history. Did I mention it was free. If you want bonus episodes it is the cost of a cup of coffee a month. Cheap as chips. Otherwise free to listen with a stack of back episodes.

Sad really sad! Your assumption that people hate this hate that regarding hangman judges etc is YOUR ASSUMPTION and too much of a marxist leaning. I could only listen to 5 mins. Cringe.
