“I really thought that I found a semi-passable Catholic podcast, but I can't listen to this podcast again because it is radically un-Catholic.
I listened to the episode with Chika Anyanwu, who I love and have seen speak before. The problem happened when Chika finished her testimony about growing up a black/African Catholic, and what helped her forgive those who may have targeted her or been racist against her.
Chika barefully finished speaking before the co-host let out a self virtuous sigh and telling Chika that she has become a "student of race, because my (co-host's) race (white) doesn't matter.
How un-Catholic, and stupid, it is to say that a whole race doesn't matter. Doesn't matter to who? God? I'm sure that's not true.
A "student" of race?? What does that even mean? What is she even trying to say? How does one become a student of race? Doesn't that meant that what you do is judge how you're going to treat people based on color? Black = automatically good, White = automatically worthless? Isn't that racists?
Furthermore, why does she think "people of color" need her pity? I'm a person of "color", and I found her statement ignorant, insulting and unnecessary.”Read full review »
