I love the TLS - intellectually stimulating and conversation about gardening - what’s not to love?! Particularly delighted you included some poetry this week. Thankyou Team TLS

What companionable hosts to spend long hours with! I enjoy every moment.

Alex Clark and Lucy Dallas are wonderful. Good humoured, insightful, informed. Makes my day when a new episode drops, an hour or so in the company of wise and witty women talking about life and books. Good interviews, good books and refreshingly not always agreement. Best presenters, I’ve been...Read full review »

I have been a subscriber to the TLS for decades and listened to this show from the beginning, suffering through years of Stig Abel’s oafish mansplaining. The show is at a good place again. But playing cheery advertising for corporations destroying the planet destroys any credibility this podcast...Read full review »

Hi, I really look forward to the TLS podcasts, which are brilliant and enriching, however I must say I don’t enjoy the political comments continually voiced about Trump. I’m over it...guys please talk about literature, if I want to hear about Trump and Hillary and the coolest president in the...Read full review »

The insipid drivel between the presenters Thea and Lucy completely mars what could be a fascinating listening experience.
Lavarcham via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/16/22
The hosts are charming and seem to have good chemistry which helps, even though it is only on clear display during the five or so minute intros. This podcast’s two biggest drawbacks are 1) Being tethered to the reviews written in that week’s edition of the TLS (YMMV on whether that content is...Read full review »

PLEASE PLEASE can you go back Tahoe the podcast was? Please beg Thea to return. It was brilliant when Thea and Lucy were the hosts!!

Lovely smart people, but please sort out the empty hall echo-y sound for the new host. Then I’m sure it’ll be perfect.

TLS was once a haven of diverse intellectual flora and fauna but over the past couple of years, the magazine and the podcast have devolved into a shadowy double of LRB. Where I used to turn to TLS to learn something I did not even know was there to be fascinated by, nowadays it has become an...Read full review »

Okay, I get the setup of laid-back in-the-know chat over a cup of tea -thing, sure. Unnerving, still their choice. Fundamental mistake exhibit A: the romantic metaphysics saturating every last sentence, it's "rich/fascinating/so good/intense/captivating" through & through, with...Read full review »

This used to be such a great podcast, never to be missed, covering a broad and fascinating topic range. Lately it’s become too obscure, focusing more on little known authors or subjects on the margins. There’s lack of energy and enthusiasm. I miss the old TLS.

Always interesting and well-informed. Works by way of the excellent contributors to each episode who are academics and researchers invited on because of their knowledge and insight rather than their celebrity. Thea is charmingly naff.
Alwmenos via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 02/25/21
I sometimes wish for better sound quality, but it is not too bad on that score. Good minds pursuing interesting thoughts on many things literary.

Thanks to Thea and Lucy for continuing to deliver a wonderful weekly podcast. They help to stimulate and reflect, with their guest writers for the TLS, a real joy of literature. A brilliant listen for which I am very grateful.

I absolutely LOVE TLS podcast. I look forward to it every week as it’s a beautiful respite from this crazy world. I have found some great books thanks to the teams recommendations. Now, as a subscriber, I look forward to having a print copy to save me from staring at more screens. An absolute joy!

One of my favorite podcasts! When I learned Stig Abell was moving on from hosting the podcast, I had my worries. But the transition has been seamless because of the wit, intelligence, and bonhomie of Thea Lenarduzzi and Lucy Dallas.

Show has a different tone with the change in the lead host but maintains high quality discussions on a wide variety of cultural matters

Intelligent, lively discussion show puts TLS on the map. Ivens’ decision not to be part of it is his first big mistake as new editor.

I have listened to podcasts for over 10 years. This is fun, witty, prescient, upbeat, smart. I feel I’m in the midst of a dinner party with intellectuals having a swell time. I can’t wait until the next is available. July 4,2020 A sad farewell to Stieg Abel. Thea Tenarduzzi & Lucy Dallas...Read full review »

But the timbre of Stig Abell’s voice is not to my taste.

Stig Abell is the most obnoxious podcast host I have ever encountered. Genuinely breathtaking that he was selected to helm this. Unlistenable.

If you like informal banter mixed in with your literary discussion/news podcast you’ll like this. BUT, if you have little patience for hearing a male panelist interrupt and dominate the other female panelists as well as the various guests, this show can be a frustrating listen. The topics are so...Read full review »

Stieg annoyed the hell out of me for the first 3 or 4 episodes, but now I love him. The genuine warmth in the relationship between he and Thea shines through and makes this an intelligent show that I also enjoy spending time with.

Great eclectic literary podcast covering wide range of topics. Very educational- at least for me. Thea and Stig great interviewers and I love the canine backdrop. Highly recommended.

I enjoy the show but please, what’s with the name? It makes me cringe every time

I listen to a lot of literature podcasts and keep coming back to certain ones because of the chemistry of the hosts. The TLS editors, led by Stig, have some of the best banter
Daveiii via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/14/19
Well, there or about. Broad, deep and accessible. Stig and his team are confident not pompous and I think do a fabulous job. This podcast is one of the best ways of being up to speed over a huge range of culture politics and literature. Keep it up!
james hugh tea via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/26/19
Full of self-importance, Stig Abell talks over contributors, especially women, because he can. Fortunately, the themes & books are more interesting than him.
Ringo says via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/18/19
These are fabulous, but I wish they’d slow down. They are talking for an audience, not in conversation with each other. Some words get lost. And it sounds like they are recording at the bottom of a well. Hence, four stars instead of five.
Esterdotter via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/18/19
Just as enjoyable as Backlisted. Except women are hysterical. I am listening to Iris Murdoch episode. Who is this hysterical woman? Laughing like maniac for no apparent reason. I still like it.

This podcast has interesting guests, covers a good breadth of material and has good hosts. Surprisingly that’s all it takes to put this above 99.9% of the other trash podcasts one finds themselves navigating through when finding something to listen to.
Stephengilbert1 via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 04/29/19
Enjoy some of the content. But they are the classic example of why people voted Brexit. Self- satisfied people who have no idea of the life and hopes of people who do not move in their circles. Abel especially comes across as someone from a ordinary background trying to prove how clever he is
