Nothing, was really explained. It seems the confidence isn’t there for the teaching. It was frustrating and nothing learned.

Just speaking in French or English and not teaching words or phrases.

This podcast is an excellent refresher for those who do not speak, natively and wants to return to the language. I do not know if I will ever go to a French speaking country again (I am from the United States) but Joel does a great job of explaining that only the language, but cultural nuances as...Read full review »

I am a beginner just learning French. After Jöel says the word in French, wait a sec for the listener to say it. Just hearing the words is not enough to learn it.

I appreciate the intentions but the others speaking French are away from the mic so it’s hard to hear. The podcast seems totally off the cuff so there are a lot of pauses that slow things down

They spent more time chatting in English. Really a waste of time
Mulder2023 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/03/23
I don’t think we need the long intro in English about not being able to find cheese in Korea

Maybe rehearse / script something out before you start recording? American Wife/ girlfriend voice is painful. French Husband / boyfriend is NOT into it. Audio levels totally inconsistent between the two of them.

I found the way the sentence was broken down and repeated quite helpful, although this suits my learning style and isn’t perhaps for everyone. I agree with some of the other reviews that it is quite disorganised but they could just be going for a chatty feel. The French guy is easy to understand...Read full review »

I don’t recommend this, the females pronunciation is very off and I cannot understand what there saying!

So dry…. And this is the 1st episode. I will give it another try, for another episode and i will update my star rating

I enjoy listening to this podcast. As a beginner in French, I almost always learn a new word in each episode. My only suggestion for improvement is that the volume for guests is often very low and I have to struggle to hear what they say (even with my volume turned all the way up).

They overlap on each other sometimes, and the approach they have to the actual teaching aspect is slow but not in the way that makes it easier to understand. They deconstruct the sentences and then she just starts asking him how to say things. If she would just let him talk, and then translate...Read full review »

They need to do more preparation. The one episode I tried sounded like their organizing meeting, or rehearsal, trying to decide on a department store. I gave up while they were discussing “ What if I ...?”

This is beyond the worst. They don’t explain anything and they go way too fast. Unreal.
tikigirl12 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/19/20
For starters, the male host does NOT want to be there. You can tell in his tone. Secondly, the woman speaking does not have good pronunciation so they shouldn’t be doing a podcast.

Too much chatting. Prefer more explanation of language skills

Good content. One constructive thought for improvement: when the guest is being interviewed, a lot of the time, their voice isn’t always clearly heard - due to closeness to the microphone possibly ? If the interviewer could repeat what was said or ask the guest to speak louder it would be very...Read full review »

The French male host obviously doesn’t want to teach French or be helpful in understanding French. The American host speaks clearly and directly into the mike. The French male host speaks very softly in the background. The French male host is evasive and doesn’t want to participate to this...Read full review »

It was some awkward moments that nobody saying anything , and the male voice sounds a little bit dull and annoyed(?) also lots of “so” “alright” , could be a little bit annoying after time. But I will keep listening to this because they try to bringing some French cultures which is very helpful...Read full review »

This podcast was just what I needed after a year and a half of speaking no French.
patoonga via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/17/19
It seems that French people are rude. Really you can’t judge people by one guy, but he made this uncomfortable.
PalominoStallion via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/14/18
Good stuff. The guy is boring and doesn’t seem interested, which is distracting.

The info is good but like others have said the male host seems like he doesn’t want to be doing the podcast at all which makes it hard to listen to. The language info and pace is good, I wish the host wasn’t so grumpy!
kcait via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/05/18
This is not a very helpful podcast to listen to. You will be discouraged from the very beginning by how the male host reacts. He doesn’t even try to engage the audience. It’s like he doesn’t want to be there doing this crap. I regret listening to this. I didn’t learn anything.
Tinypadfoot27 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/08/18
I wish they’d do more preparations before recording. The pregnant pauses in the conversation are horribly annoying. And why does the guy sound so annoyed with this process? Is someone holding him hostage?
