This episode was hard to hear. I love the pioneer spirit of this father and his son, but there is a colonial smugness that is at the core of this. Imagine going to the countries and proceed to penetrate without taking time to know the culture, the people, the terrain, the language., or a native guide? The native people owe you nothing. Had the land and the people of color within the land-been respected, this tragedy may not have occurred.
