Terry Gross was very disappointing in this recent podcast with Julie Holland
I have been a life long fan of Terry Gross but have noticed her interview style has become bland and slightly opinionated over the last yearish. This most recent with Julie Holland was a disappointing interview, especially given the importance of the topic. It seem like Terry does more research on an album of a new musicians than on the epidemic of depression and anxiety plaguing the world. She basically just repeated what the guest was saying and asking the most basic uninformative closed ended questions. I believe Terry was delivering an uninterested tone because she does not remotely understand what these medicines can offer people and subconsciously is imagining rave drugs and tie dye hippies.(my opinion) What Julie Holland is talking about in this book is more important than any other subject at this moment in time. Why? because the connections and transformations she is talking about would stop global warming, economic inequality, significant amounts of violence and crime, drug addiction, and most importantly the collective global suffering we describe as self consciousness. I am not exaggerating at all. Yes, even global warming. If people could see how material luxuries are mostly valueless or feel connected and at one with our planet, they would eagerly stop polluting. If you look at the stars or another human and don’t feel unconditionally attached to either of them then you are missing something that is worth everything and you should seek it out right now. I have seen these medicines save countless lives and bring lasting happiness to so many people that did not know what they were missing. End the taboo people. And Terry, regardless if you think you are happy and fulfilled you should partake in these therapies just to understand what your mind and consciousness is creating. If you think you have nothing to learn, you are wrong. If you think, I’m not interested, you are naive. If you are judging me for writing such a bloody long review then that’s completely warranted. If you hate me for critizing Terry Gross then I’m with you. Terry Gross is arguably the best interviewer of all time and my favorite so I’m honestly just a hater right now. Nonetheless this subject can change your life. Bring you true and lasting happinesses after only a couple sessions. I love you folks and I love you Terry ✊ Go find a local underground therapist and open your 3rd eye! 👁Wade H Gainesville GA

She could make almost anyone seem interesting, the recent show on Burma (for example) is an excellent 30 minute summary of the history, problems and future of Burma, now that this is a podcast don't have to go through all the steps of converting the stream into iPod format- thanks NPR!Read full review »
