Looking for a fresh podcast I thought to check this one out. Sadly, the vile antagonism and false rhetoric is an affront to atheism. It should be titled the Sadistic Unsubstantiated Atheist.

Hi Jess I hope this title got your attention! I love this podcast and I’ve been listening to it for years now! I love Hemant’s investigative journalism, and I love Jess’s commentary—she never fails to say what I’m already thinking. My only critique (with love, Hemant lol) is that I wish Hemant...Read full review »

I love this podcast. Hemant and Jessica discuss the latest news that relates to religion. They aren't grooming atheists and almost never bother trying to debunk religious dogma. The news stories they cover speak volumes about how little morality matters to religious extremists. This podcast...Read full review »

I was into this podcast until the episode the Christian postman and Jessica’s argument was absolutely ridiculous she completely didn’t get the point. “Unfollow “

On this episode about the right for the mailman to be accommodated for not working on Sunday….I painfully listened to that part twice and I have no idea where Jessica got sidetracked on the point that was made. Union workers may can dictate when they won’t work. But non-union businesses…no. My...Read full review »

Jessicas had a hard time understanding the point on the last episode. I’ll come back when she gets replaced.

Please let each other finish speaking without interruptions. One host constantly talking over the other is genuinely unlistenable. I literally could not finish this week’s episode (3/7/23) because it devolved into yelling and crosstalk. I love this podcast and both hosts, I do not love...Read full review »

After years of listening, I’m calling it quits after this last episode. 10 minutes of a host shrieking! about Socialism/Workers Rights when that had nothing to do with the topic. This, after years of misandry and racism from the same host. (Here’s a secret… white men aren’t a monolith and...Read full review »

Friendly Atheist is one of the podcasts I most look forward to every week, and has been for a long time. I like how they cover news that affect non-religious folks and the misconduct of religious leaders and organizations. The best episodes are the ones where both hosts bring topical content to...Read full review »

Do bees have knees? Listen to this wonderful podcast and that will remain unanswered. But what you will get is an exceptional podcast that covers current events with a more rational approach. This is the only atheist podcast I “religiously “ listen to still because by covering current events it...Read full review »

Good balance of hosts. Good banter. I cant believe how calmly they talk about infuriating topics. A mature approach for sure

Hermant…How can you condemn something you haven’t listened to (podcast by Megan Phelps)? I usually find your analysis spot on but the trans issue is a tricky one. It’s not black and white. Let’s hear what JK has to say.

We need more female voices in the atheist community. I love Jessica’s snark, humor, and her obvious passion for these topics. I suppose the other guy is okay too.

It’s hard to explain why I listen to an American politics podcast when I’m British but I never miss an episode. As someone who was told I’m as bad as a murderer and kicked out of my church community for being gay, I appreciate hearing an atheist perspective on world issues and it really helped...Read full review »

Great show with singing, feminist rants, and sadness with the state of the world. Also there’s some dude on the podcast, but I don’t normally listen to what he says.

Lovely contrasting personalities in the hosts. Of all the secular news podcasts I get the most entertainment from this one. Same news stories as everyone else (because everyone gets theirs from this one???) but unscripted banter and bickering make it better.

This podcast is always a great listen. I love the conversational style of the hosts and how they keep us up-to-date with the latest [mostly] depressing news.

My problem lies solely with Jessica. She comes off very loud, obnoxious, and aggressive for literally no reason. This is not how I like to be woken up on my morning commute. Good god…

You immediately blamed the Christians for the shooting. What you didn’t wait to realize is that the shooter was actually gay as well and would not be motivated by hate for homosexuals. Yes I’m a Christian writing this not with hatred but simply to identify a fact.

I love listening to them both and learning their perspectives. It helps widen my understanding of the world. Also, just to make my review of the show complete: **insert idiotic and rude comment about Jessica here**

As a diagnosed neurodivergent, this show makes my brain happy. Jessica’s rapid fire rants and background commentary behind Hement’s calm(er) structure and sarcasm result in a delightful mix. First couple of times I hated this show. Then I gave it a chance and couldn’t get enough! Great news commentary from a progressive/free-thought perspective. Jessica has made me laugh and spit my coffee out on more than one occasion! I live for her drunken cackle.
Farm Librarian via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/03/22
I like the program but I really wish Jessica would let an article be fully read before she interjects with questions that are, eventually, answered when the article is complete. It’s kind of like that one kid in high school that couldn’t resist shouting things out and interrupting the teacher.

I’m not quite getting the “Friendly” part perhaps I’m missing it somehow? I subscribe to several podcasts, and this is by far my favorite. I listen to it as soon as it hits my feed. As an older white male, I agree with Jessica that often we “are the worst,” and I try every day to not demonstrate that in my life.

I love this show so much. Jessica is hilarious. I think she should talk and laugh louder and more. How about that, ya jerks? Hemant is the straight man (although some New IFB pastors disagree), but together they strike a delicious balance. I wish the show were three hours long.

Jessica Bluemke is a sparkling gem in the harsh wasteland of the podcastiverse. Her humor, sincerity, and passion shine through in each and every episode. The other fellow is fine. I think his name is He-Man or some such nonsense.
