I recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science and I've been very discouraged by how technology is used and discussed. I've had a lot of difficulty feeling excited about my degree or any career I might end up in. This podcast is super encouraging because there are other tech...Read full review »

This podcast is a good antidote to the tech bro libertarian ideology that so dominates Silicon Valley.

GIU taught me what cybernetics is, seriously enriched my understanding of marxism, and it’s the only leftist podcast that doesn’t make me feel like I’m trapped at the bottom of an abandoned well. Check it out!!

Excellent summary and Marxist analysis of various media and writings pertaining to our changing world and future. The Blade Runner 2049 film analysis in particular made me realise many things I hadn’t noticed after watching it.

The premise, the ground covered and everything in between is excellent. The antipode to consumer tech podcast. With one glaring issue, it sounds like it is being recorded in a bathroom. Not shortage of irony for a podcast critiquing tech, it seems we cannot have insightful conversation and decent...Read full review »

As a tech worker on the left, it's easy to observe both the transformative potential of our high-tech, connected world, and also the failings of past conceptions of this potential. Within the industry, much of the same ideological fervor which fueled these failures remains at the helm,...Read full review »

These two review numerous academic and publicly available material (including visual media) typically focusing on socialism. Always well informed and well articulated, I really like this show and look forward to each episode as this is a subject I know very little about.

This is now one my new favorite podcasts. I find it to be a unique and sophisticated in blending a description and critique of hard social and economic theory with references to literature and film, and comparisons to current events and political history. I highly admire the hosts’ ability to...Read full review »
