Lip-sync thought
Have you considered the fact that it’s happening more often possibly at the action the broadcast/awards companies in a way to draw bigger viewing audiences? If it was to make the performer look good, they would do a backing track or something else. They know people will watch just in anticipation of the encore that has now been hyped as a defining factor of something. Also, you mentioned the difficulty of putting mics on everyone at the show. Then they have to scramble to quickly turn on the sudden winner’s correct mic and in ear device for the encore (which is said to have been a possible issue for Jimin’s encore). Good conversation and well handled.

I love this podcast so much, I’m a pandemic army so this podcast has helped me get through some really tough times and has helped distract me from some stuff. I’m sad that I don’t have enough money to be a patron but I’m supporting from the sidelines! And it’s fun listening to other people simp over BTS cause I have yet to meet other army in person 😅
