A melanin minded mental health podcast.

Join cohosts and partners Prof and Dr. Kam as we explore, educate, and destigmatize the complexity of black people and our mental health. Sometimes heavy, sometimes light, always engaging with purpose. Each episode is therapeutic journey where we traverse the individual narratives of our guests and ourselves. We promise to be real, (apologetic when necessary), and vulnerable about our “stuff,” while encouraging our listeners to do the same with their “stuff”. Our goal is to empower ourselves collectively to seek insight, awareness, and to open ourselves to self exploration and healing.

Episode 3 - Monte

After listening to this podcast I was truly enlightened. From the beginning to the end, I was intrigued and captured by my Brotha Monte’s story. He’s always been a wordsmith as he stated during parts of the podcast but he articulated his story so clearly I could envision it like a movie. I met the Brotha I believe in 1988-89, when he ran track with the Pomona Valley Trailblazers. I didn’t run for his team but we had several things in common (from Pomona, common friends) I saw my boy was a tough cookie and rough with the girls lol. To hear his life story was truly amazing and uplifting to see the transitions he’s gone through. This Brotha is not only rehabilitated, he’s ready to give back to society. I just wish our Loved one Akili Stewart was here to welcome him back. 💯

Respectfully,

Eric Jennings

This is Real!

I’m so impressed with the topics & how real they are for everyday Black folks! Just beautiful to see our people sharing, keeping it real, & supporting each other. Has really opened my eyes to sensitive situations & given me a different nonjudgmental perspective. Keep putting in the work- it’s much needed 💕
