Description
Jesus is the Christmas gift who God sent to the earth 2,000 years ago. Through him, we receive the gift of eternal life, sonship, forgiveness of sins, and the gift of righteousness. These are things that we cannot earn, but are freely given to us, because of Jesus and his sacrifice on Calvary. If you have to work to receive something, it is no longer a gift. It is an obligation. But God gives us a free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. I encourage you to receive all that God has for you in Christ Jesus today.
NOTES: Jesus, The Christmas Gift
““For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, MEV)
Main Thought: God in His love has given us a gift to receive, not to be earned.
Jesus is God’s Gift to Humanity
“Yet to all who received Him, He gave the power to become sons of God, to those who believed in His name,” (John 1:12, MEV)
Salvation is Given, Not Earned
“The Example of Abraham What then shall we say that Abraham, our father according to the flesh, has found? If Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. What does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Now to him who works, wages are not given as a gift, but as a debt. (Romans 4:1-4, MEV)
They Which Receive Will Reign in Life
“For if by one man’s trespass death reigned through him, then how much more will those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:17, MEV)
* Jesus is a gift.
* Sonship is a gift.
* Eternal Life is a gift.
* Righteousness is a gift.
* All the benefits of salvation are a gift.
We are His Workmanship
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, so that no one should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10, MEV)
Conclusion: Make a decision today, to not depend on your own righteousness, but to believe in Jesus, and all that he has done for you.
