Description
N. R. Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys, emphasizes hard work as a priority over work-life balance. He maintained a schedule of 14 hours a day, six and a half days a week for 30 years until his retirement in 2011. His workday began at 6:20 a.m. and ended at 8:30 p.m. He expressed disappointment when India shifted to a five-day workweek in 1986. Murthy has suggested that young people in India should work 70 hours a week, opposing local labor laws. Recently, at CNBC's Global Leadership Summit, he reiterated his belief against the concept of work-life balance. Infosys, founded in 1981 with $250, expanded to 56 countries and employs over 317,000 people. The company became the first Indian firm listed on NASDAQ in 1999 and reports a market capitalization of over $92 billion and $18 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2024.
