    Dr. D.J. Polzin is a physician based in Eugene, Oregon, specializing in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. His practice is uniquely holistic, combining osteopathy, lifestyle medicine, dietary practices, plant medicine, and western medicine. This integrative approach is designed to empower patients to harness their own innate healing abilities, fostering recovery and well-being through a balanced treatment model.
    Dr. Polzin’s connection with plant medicine began during his tenure as a wilderness EMT and was further developed through his extensive clinical experiences across Washington, Alaska, California, Idaho, Arizona, and Oregon. His medical school journey was uniquely marked by living as a nomad, traveling and residing in a self-built camper van, which allowed him to immerse himself in various medical cultures and practices and explore a diverse range of ecosystems.
    An advocate for inclusive care, Dr. Polzin has extensive experience with the LGBTQQIP2SAA community and employs trauma-informed practices. In addition to mental health counseling, telemedicine services, and clinical visits, he also offers personalized hands-on healing sessions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to health care.
    Dr. Polzin is the author of "The Healthy Nomad Handbook," a guide to wellness for travelers, and "Breaking Through the Crowd: Conquering Crowd Anxiety." His publications reflect his dedication to addressing both physical and psychological aspects of health.
    In August 2024, Dr. Polzin will begin a new role as a primary care physician in Eugene, Oregon. In this position, he plans to utilize his multifaceted approach to further empower patients to improve their health.

     Jesse Wolf Hardin is an impactful author, ecosopher, ecological and societal activist, personal counsel, graphic artist, musician, and historian – a champion of both human and biodiversity, as well as of nature’s medicines. Wolf was a leading organizer of and presenter for Earth First!, becoming a featured presenter at hundreds of conferences and universities, and was the creator of cross cultural ecospiritual collaborations appropriately called “Medicine Shows” that melded his powerful spoken word with live music, indigenous presenters, and focused activism.
    With his wife Kiva Rose, he founded the international Good Medicine Confluence gathering in 2008, along with the in-depth digital magazine for herbalists, healers and folklorists Plant Healer Quarterly. He is the author of over 800 published articles in over 200 different publications, as well as of over 25 books, his work earning the praises of luminaries such as Gary Snyder, Joanna Macy, Ralph Metzner, Starhawk, and Rosemary Gladstar.     Dr. Jillian Stansbury has operated a general family practice in Battle Ground, WA for 35 years, and served as the Chair of the Botanical Medicine department at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, OR for many decades and remains on the faculty. She is the author of 7 books including the award winning Herbal Formularies for Health Professionals, a 5-volume series which won an Excellence in Botanical Literature award from the American Botanical Council. Dr. Stansbury has supported traditional ethnobotanical wisdom in her work, studied with Indigenous tribes of the Andes and Amazon, and leads Ethnobotanical tours to the Manu region of Peru each January.

    This week’s episode of Herbal Radio features the botanical spiritualist, conservation-focused farmer, and owner of Creasy Jane’s herbal remedy store, Ruby Daniels. As a young girl, Ruby spent many of her summers in West Virginia roaming around the outdoors and crafting herbal concoctions with plants she’d find along her adventures. Inspired by her grandmother, a wise herbal healer in her community, Ruby was intrigued to unlock the spiritual connection between humans and the botanicals surrounding us. Today, Ruby is an advocate for sustainable farming and wild harvesting practices through her soil conservation work with USDA, along with sharing Afrolachian history and herbal remedies through her business, Creasy Jane’s, which was inspired by her grandmother and many other herbal healers in her community.

    Ruby Daniels is a Soil conservationist tech with USDA, a farmer, manufacturer of herbal products, and herbalist/owner of Creasy Jane’s. Creasy Jane’s was formed to provide education, produce products, and provide fresh produce to the local community. Ruby Daniels gained her knowledge from her elders in West Virginia and expanded her plant knowledge by attending the Maryland University of Integrative Health. Ruby received a Master of Science in Therapeutic Herbalism, Ruby focused her study on Afro-Lachian foods and herbs, field botany, and phytochemistry. She previously worked with a non-profit organization as a consultant in the Agroforestry industry in West Virginia and is a board member of United Plant Savers. In addition to her work, Ruby Daniels works on cultural preservation and education focused on African American relationships with the plants of Appalachia. Ruby Daniels and Creasy Jane’s mission is to educate the public about the power of plants and how to use them to support wellness.
