I recently discovered this podcast and have been enjoying it. There’s a lot of stimulating insight, and ideas I’m not hearing discussed in mainstream media. However, I couldn’t make it more than halfway through #187 with Steven Koonin before I had to google the guy in utter confusion. Very recent (June 1, 2021) Scientific American article cleared up my confusion. Simply put, everyone has an agenda, and everyone gets paid. Koonin is at American Enterprise Institute, getting heavy fossil fuel funding. Doesn’t mean he might not be right about something, and it’s true in general we shouldn’t accept as gospel everything (or nearly anything) we read in the papers. But come on. As I continued to listen, subtle bias became more and more evident, undercutting Koonin’s claim to just be clarifying all of our muddied understanding of the science. I still think this is a good podcast and offers a lot that others don’t, but now I’m listening with more wariness.

Very funny and energetic. Lots of interruptions but it works well because it’s quick witted.

The quality of the discussions, the quantity of the output, and the breadth of the topics considered, is just mind-boggling. You owe it to yourself to give this a listen.
