The podcast is interesting. The show host is too one-sided and not reporting just the facts. One example is stating some things that are not sins when in fact they are. In true Christianity there are things that are absolute truth. These truths are set by God and the Bible. In our society today,...Read full review »

I got through an episode and a half and finally gave up out of irritation. I have no idea what Hillside is, I assume it’s a mega church, of course, but start at the beginning. It’s like you just keep talking and talking and talking about it and there’s no starting point or ending point it’s just...Read full review »

This podcast has a lot of potential but a majority of the guests interviewed were real losers & had no credibility to give their opinion on this topic. Could have done a lot better

After listening to the Rise and Fall of Mars Hill, I expected a similar podcast where the narrators/reporters were seeking to find healing in Christ for those impacted by the Hillsong fallout. Instead- it appeared to be a progressive liberal worldy view of what is happening in mega churches and...Read full review »

Definitely sad how much of the world was and is involved in Hillsong. So much misrepresentation of God’s Word in the podcast as well. The information about true experiences and how they felt, is what it is. Sad but honestly, we are told over and over IN Gods Word, for YOU to be in Gods Word. I...Read full review »

Personally, I’ve experienced spiritual abuse and I’ve seen many issues within the modern day evangelical church. With that being said, I feel like this podcast is not really looking to reform the church but rather a socio-political Trojan horse. With pushinga very obvious modern day agenda, I...Read full review »

Started off well and o was hopeful for this podcast. Hillsong and the issues it is facing need to be brought into large light and exposed. But by episode 4, it was clear to see that the agenda of this podcast was not going to do so… The producer chose a transgender person who is blaming the...Read full review »

I give this podcast only 3 stars because of some ignorant comments made in episode 6. This black lady came on and immediately she pointed out that she was black…”I’m as good as a black woman can be doing in America..” Any person that feels the need to point out what their skin color is, is...Read full review »

Thank you. I was born into and raised in the evangelical church in Australia. My parents were pastors and I experienced both the good and bad of both christians and the church. Meh
Not bad, but my word these folks have way more problems than their church.

She is a horrible speaker. A lot of rambling going on here. If you all are planning to tell the story, see a podcast, please do so. Otherwise let it rest.

Thanks for putting in the emotional labour to make this happen. You’re braver than many. This could be a never ending series, there is so much to uncover. Next up needs to be Christian City Church.

When I read the negative reviews I wonder how many are from those who are themselves blind Mega-church zealots…this is an important story of predatory individuals and organizations.

Very poor journalism. Leaned a lot on emotions. Seemed very new age woke whiney. Instead of saying what happened and giving good factual and storytelling. The narrator seemed very whiney. Too bad cause good story there to be told.

Thank you Dan for addressing serious issues with the leadership at Hillsong. This organization used people and then covered it up. It is clear their goal was and still is money and power. They could have structured the discussions better as some of them just dragged on. It is interesting to hear what religious people will put up with, justify and turn a blind eye to in the name of belief. A lot of gullible people just going with the flow. They certainly did highlight this.

No details given. Have no idea who any of the people are or why I’m supposed to care. They do not even explain the situation once. I think you HAVE to watch the documentary in order to understand anything.

Wow
Fantastic investigative work. I went to their church in ottawa Canada but had bad vibes right from the start. Especially considering I’m lgbt and I believe the pastors knew that. Like other reviewers, I thought this would be a story of what went wrong, like how sin crept in and destroyed the church. Instead it’s more like the aftermath from a documentary. Amazing work by Dan Johnstone and his team as they carefully, sensitively, and powerfully unpack the levels of betrayal and deception and exploitation that is the basis and framework of Hillsong. It’s compelling and yet, still graceful and I’m eternally 😉 grateful that Dan is doing this work.

I was interested in this story, but I just couldn’t listen to the key witness and her continuous verbal gibberish. She mostly kept repeating the words insidious and “do you know what I mean?” No, I don’t because you can’t speak clearly.
