I’m out ....
I used to love this podcast and get a particular rush of excitement every time that I saw a new episode drop but sadly no more . The scope of topics used to be broad and the contributors were , on the whole, excellent . Now the range of subjects has narrowed and seems dominated by identity politics. Write me off as a rabid Daily Mail reading ranter if you like ( I’m not..) but I am now bored of the Brit bashing . It’s got nothing to do with me being jingoistic or white fragility - it’s just reached the stage where the range of topics has become boringly predictable . Also it always makes me smile when the names of three producers are read out at the end of each show - with that many people working on each episode perhaps it should be possible to achieve some journalistic balance but apparently not - the recent episode on the Boer War was a classic example - failing to draw any link between Boer culture and history and apartheid - as ever , it was all Britain’s fault apparently . There is a whole fascinating , diverse world of history out there - please bring us some true diversity by telling us about amazing African, Asian and South American Empires and achievements rather than continually seeing everything through the prism of British colonialism .

Not a bad podcast, sometimes the sound quality can be a bit off (especially if they're talking to someone over the telephone or skype) but overall it's a generally informative podcast and a great companion to the magazine.Read full review »

Sound quality and editing can be choppy but otherwise the content has always been very interesting
