Sythians
Very disappointing podcast about sythians. Wonderful based his lecture entirely on Russian-Soviet time research. Let’s not forget that all researches of this time were based on the russian domination ideology, which is fine! But when it comes to Sythians I find it strange that lecturer never mentions Kazakhstan except as a region of steppe and kazakh tribes. Kazakhstan still have tribal alive culture, a lot of this tribes has a different fascinating history. For example my father was naiman, tribe which first joined Gengiz Khan, my mothers tribe is very ancient it’s a people of Wusun, who always inhabited region of Seven Rivers in KZ. Tribe argyn has relation to Hunns and there is also tribe named Alans. Adai tribe related to sarmatians. One of the symbols of modern Kazakhs is golden men, which is gold military armory found in one of the burials near Almaty, which possibly belongs to the women warrior. If you look in kazakh tradition and style of live and art there is obvious connection to the scythes. There is a lot to dig and find out.

Very interesting with great subject matter. Descriptive labelling could be more enlightening, but don't let that put you off listening. Really worth listening to.Read full review »

Would like to listen to this podcast, but unable to download. I received an error from Itunes saying they can't find the URL on your server. I placed concern notice with Itunes as this is the same with all episodes, or at least the 5-6 random ones I tried. Will try again another time. ThanksRead full review »

even with no history background I found this podcast very accessible and reccommend it to anyone with vague interest in how history has shaped the modern world
