Being a horrorfan for 30 years and having a big love for the history of movies I always look for interesting podcasts about the subject. After the great ‘Saterday night movie sleepover’ podcast, I was searching for a new one about horrormovies. Then I discovered HMT. With big expectations I listened to both Pet semetary reviews, Halloween, Annabelle, Poltergeist, ... I give every podcast a decent portion of time and episodes before rating them. I must admit I’m not a big fan. And that’s a pitty, I really would have liked it. The guys are fun to hear and have great intro’s and endings (quizzes, tagline) But the reviews itself really lack depth and knowledge of movie history. ‘They must make a movie about Colombine’.. Ever heard of the cultclassic ‘Elephant’, ‘We need to talk about Kevin’. ? This is basic knowledge. David says he wants to edit the classic ‘Poltergeist’? Ego issues? David classifies masterpieces as Halloween, original Fright Night as average and thinks the new Pet Semetary is great? You don’t see the older movies in their context of time. What’s the point of reviewing them then? Halloween for example was in its time a real gamechanger. Time after time I feel they give opinions but these are not reviews because they lack real knowledge and background. It’s not horrorble but not great either. But it can be.
