“Yes, Jennifer’s family speaks negatively of the maintenance workers and refers to them as illegal immigrates. You can
A) take this as them being racist or
B) realize they are a grieving family whose daughter was most likely murdered by an undocumented worker.
Furthermore the workers being undocumented is relevant to the case at hand. This is likely the reason that FOX picked this case. It is an example they can use to push their political narrative. That doesn’t make those involved in the case racist.
The prime suspect and witnesses are undocumented workers. And there wasn’t “just one bad actor”. Around the time that Jennifer was abducted there were NUMEROUS complaints made by the residents of the complex about the workers. While this podcast only focuses on one complaint, the rest are documented with many people (specifically women) reporting to the police/ security.
Some facts that may have not been mentioned:
1) All apartments shared the same lock, and multiple workers had access to the master key.
2) A worker who later broke into a women’s apartment after she turned him down had an illegal copy of the master key.
3) As mentioned in the podcast, it was illegal to change the lock, you would loose your deposit. This law did not change after Jennifer’s abduction.
4) workers were not allowed to sleep on the property but many did as a majority of the apartments we’re unoccupied.
5) while guards were told to write down license plates of anyone entering the building, they did not record any of the workers cars. This was out of laziness as the workers were the most frequent visitors.
6) Undocumented workers refused to cooperate with the police. They were also the ones occupying the apartments closet to her at the time. They have also proven difficult to track down after the fact, due to their status.
Instead of dismissing everyone as racist, it would be better to highlight how this is an uncommon occurrence and that a MAJORITY of undocumented persons (people in general) are not murders.”
