“I really don't appreciate the anti-medicine aspect of this. I love the idea of hypnobirthing, and do plan to apply some of it to my birth. However, if I don't induce and need medical assistance, that does not mean I then become a caged animal. This type of talk is what makes mothers feel like failures when things don't go according to plan. I expect a natural birth which I control to the best of my ability.. but my wearing a hospital Johnny-coat doesn't mean I'll lose sense of self. It's just really dramatic and I find it to be quite a turn off.. I wish they could be more open minded, less judgmental and maybe even just slightly appreciative of our MDs who will be making sure we and our babies will be safe.”
