“These guys...I’m sorry, whenever I let them back in they tick me off all over again. They’re like the aging social worker or special Ed teacher who’s been at it 20+ years but burned out on their career and just keep doing it because it’s all they know. Most seem unable to derive much pleasure from the worlds of comics, Star Wars, etc. My issue is less so with the main 2 guys as with a couple of the guests (particularly the nasally one who used to be a fan and comes off as a try hard who worries too much about disagreeing with Conor and the main dude). There’s also a guest who is more measured in his tone and usually comes in for the film reviews; I like him just fine.
Case in point, the new Suicide Squad film. I agree the first one was disappointing but this latest one was a riot! I’m a huge comics reader and collector since 1989, my wife could care less, and my 14 year old daughter has a mild interest (unless it’s Hiddleston Loki, then she’s all in!)...all 3 of us came away loving SS2. I was foolishly excited to hear the iFanboy review and had to turn it off after 10 minutes because 2 of the 4 guys could barely find a good thing to say about it. It’s like this all too much imo.
I much prefer Comic Book Guys anymore because their show is informative, fun, funny and doesn’t take itself so seriously.
3 stars because i do still respect and get a lot from their weekly comic reviews. I just wonder if some of these guys should seek a career change for peace of mind. I ended up doing it after a 15-year IT career and have never been happier! For me, It’s just not that enjoyable to listen to people talk about subjects they don’t seem to like all that much.”
