Warner Bros. Took a $200 Million Hit Because of Suicide Squad - IGN Daily Fix

Warner Bros. Took a $200 Million Hit Because of Suicide Squad - IGN Daily Fix

In today's Daily Fix: Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed it took a $200 million hit in its Q1 financials, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is likely to blame. WBD compared the results to last year's Hogwarts Legacy, and found that Suicide Squad "generated significantly lower revenues." Hogwarts Legacy was last year's best-selling game and a huge critical and commercial hit for WBD. In other news, Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studios, reportedly told staff the company wanted "smaller games that give prestige and awards"...right after they shut down Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks. Hi-Fi Rush was a highly-praised game with a smaller budget compared to Bethesda's disastrous Redfall. Tango, Redfall developer Arkane Austin, and a few other studios were shuttered this week by Xbox. And finally, in some good news, Capcom is reportedly making more money than it ever has before, thanks to games like Street Fighter 6, Dragon's Dogma 2, and Resident Evil 4. The money is expected to keep rolling in, as Capcom is set to drop Monster Hunter Wilds next year.

Arkane Austin's Big Redfall Update Was Set for May Until Studio Closure - IGN Daily Fix

Arkane Austin's Big Redfall Update Was Set for May Until Studio Closure - IGN Daily Fix

In today's Daily Fix: Redfall's promised single-player update was set for sometime in May, and was being actively worked on until Microsoft closed the studio earlier this week. All development on the game has stopped, and the planned DLC set for this Halloween has been scrapped. This suggests that the studio had no prior warning that it was in danger of closing until the announcement from Xbox came. In other news, Nintendo is reviving the Nintendo World Championships with a new collection for the Switch. It's modeled after the minigame collection at the center of the legendary 1990 World Championships, and it's available for pre-order now. And finally, John Wick is back in pinball form. If you've got enough gold assassin coins—and the space—it can be yours starting at $7,000 USD.

Microsoft Closes Arkane Austin, Tango GameWorks, More Across Bethesda Studios - IGN Daily Fix

Microsoft Closes Arkane Austin, Tango GameWorks, More Across Bethesda Studios - IGN Daily Fix

In today's gaming news: If you've been wondering when Microsoft was going to announce Redfall's expected DLC, wonder no more. Microsoft has made significant cuts across Bethesda, shuttering Redfall developer Arkane Austin, as well as Tango GameWorks, Alpha Dog Games, and more. Some employees at those studios will be moved to other teams, but Microsoft did not mention anything specific about layoffs. Redfall had a disastrous launch last year—the game shipped with bugs and server issues, and was met with middling to negative reviews despite being one of Microsoft's most-anticipated games of the year. Tango GameWorks' closing is a surprise, as last year's surprise hit Hi-Fi Rush was met with critical acclaim, and Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg had previously said the game had met "all key measurements and expectations." In other news, Nintendo announceds that they will announce the next Switch this fiscal year. Before you get your hopes up, that means sometime before March 2025. Nintendo also said to not expect an announcement at their June Direct. And finally, Hades 2 is in early access on PC and has already surpassed the original game's concurrent player count. The game is still in development, with a full release expected in 2025.

Sony Reverses Decision On Helldivers 2 PSN Account Requirement - IGN Daily Fix

Sony Reverses Decision On Helldivers 2 PSN Account Requirement - IGN Daily Fix

In today's Daily Fix: Congratulations, Helldivers! You beat back the might of the Sony corporation, who mandated—undemocratically—that you link a PSN account to your game even when playing on PC. Developer Arrowhead was on the side of the gamers in this fight, even going so far as to suggest players leave negative reviews of Helldivers 2 (which they did) to get the message across to Sony that this was a bad idea. The requirement, had it gone into effect, would have also stopped players in more than a hundred countries from playing the game, seeing as how PSN is not available worldwide. Sony may have reversed course on this decision thanks to the overwhelming response from the community, but the victory may be short-lived, as Sony is making a huge push into the PC gaming space, and may require other Sony-published games to have a PSN account tied to them. In other news, Beat Saber is losing Meta Quest 1 support, which could be a forerunner to other games losing support for the five-year-old VR tech.

Helldivers 2 Fans Angry with Sony After New Account Requirements - IGN Daily Fix

Helldivers 2 Fans Angry with Sony After New Account Requirements - IGN Daily Fix

In today's Daily Fix: Helldivers 2 fans are up in arms, but not over the latest major order or weapon nerf—Sony is now going to require PC players to link the game to a PSN account. Don't worry, it's free (it's NOT PS Plus), but it's yet another account you'll need to sign up for if you want to keep squashing bugs and bombing 'bots. In other news, Redfall recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, and by celebrating we mean Microsoft did absolutely nothing to acknowledge that milestone. In fact, there's still no word on the previously-announced DLC. And finally, Nintendo may be adding a classic and highly sought-after game to the Switch. That's right, the Nintendo World Championship—one of gaming's Holy Grails—just might get a special version for the Switch.

Todd Howard Addresses Starfield's Mixed Reception - IGN Daily Fix

Todd Howard Addresses Starfield's Mixed Reception - IGN Daily Fix

In today's Daily Fix: Todd Howard is well aware of the criticisms Starfield faced when it launched last year. Starfield is Bethesda's first new IP in years, and had tons of hype built around it leading up to the release, but the game was met with tepid reviews. In other news, dataminers have seemingly found evidence of some major crossovers coming to Call of Duty: expect the likes of Fallout, Gundam, and The Crow to come to the popular shooter franchise soon. And finally, 7-Eleven is getting into the gaming space with a Tetris handheld. And yes the handheld will resemble a Slurpee.

Love the Daily Fix

Really enjoy being able to follow the daily fix and it is video version. However it’s odd that there are two daily fix and the other hasn’t been updated since Dec. 2022 and now this one has been created. It’s the same thing but a lot of people are missing out on the fix if they don’t know that it’s now being uploaded here.
