Description
Dutch architect Neville Mars has been active in China since 2003 as head of the Dynamic City Foundation, an international research platform investigating hyper-speed urbanization. Now Mars is the principal of MARS Architects in Shanghai specialized in sustainable projects on all scales, from product development to architecture and city planning. Mars follows a research-driven approach, based on the notion that urban growth is essentially organic. With this perspective radical new urban and architectural typologies are developed that can respond to China's vibrant urban society. Mars is the author of "The Chinese Dream - a society under construction" (010 Publishers, Mars and Hornsby, Rotterdam 2008). Current projects include a 300 meter tall office tower in the heart of Chongqing and a comprehensive new handbook for the planning of ecocities.
