Description
ORIOL CLOS (Barcelona, 1955) is an architect, urban planner and designer. He has served as Chief Architect of the City Council of Barcelona for six years (2006-2011). He has also served in the City Council of Barcelona as Director of Urbanism of the 22 company (2000-2003) and as Director of Plans and Projects (2004-2005). He studied at the School of Architecture of Barcelona (graduate in 1980). From 1990 to 2002, he was Associate Professor of Urban Project at the same School. During last ten years he has been a regular lecturer for local and foreign students, relating general concepts of town planning with the urban strategies for Barcelona. From 1983 to 2000 he led his private practice, working on a wide range of building and planning projects that include the enlargement of Parliament in Madrid, facilities and public spaces for the Barcelona 92 Olympic Games, the Salvador Dalí Museum Houses in Púbol and Cadaqués and the Ville-Port sector in Saint-Nazaire, France (with Manuel de Solà-Morales). Currently he has recuperated his private practice of architecture and urban planning. He was the editor of Barcelona, Transformació. Plans i Projectes, Barcelona, 2008, and Barcelona Direccions, 104 architecture postcards. Barcelona, 2011.
