“I’m going to Florida with my wife later this month for a week to spend thanksgiving with her family. The town her parents live in is 30 mins away from Captiva, a tropical touristy island on the gulf coast. After the holiday I suggested we spend a night or 2 out there since it’s beautiful and I’ve never been. I sensed my wife’s trepidation at the idea of telling her parents we don’t want to sleep at their house for the ENTIRETY of our stay. Is it selfish to sneak in personal pleasure on this thanksgiving trip? Or are the tropical destinations adjacent to my wife’s hometown forever off limits without her family there.”
