Jen Kelly’s steady voice helps reveal some great hidden stories from Australia’s past. Interesting topics and explained in a suspenseful story-telling manner. Love the two day (two part) presentation style too

I have been listening to IBAW since it started, and I have to admit, it’s my favourite podcast. Jen Kelly is a pure pleasure to listen too and the stories are so interesting and intriguing, learning all about the history of our nation. Love it. I would like to suggest a series of stories about...Read full review »

This is the best podcast I have listened to in a long time. It is just great to learn more of our history. Jen Kelly and her guests bring these characters to life.

I find it offensive calling Dolly Gray a moll. It’s as offensive as being called fat.

Jen is amazing. Love her content and her voice!

Always enjoy B & W, Jen, but this episode really was one out of the box. I found so many aspects of the story revelatory and very moving. My Dad was born and raised in Central Western Qld and he always spoke of how integral the Afghans were in helping set up households with essentials and...Read full review »

Your history is way off line. The Germans never cold bloodily shot any English soldiers. I’m sorry but people who buy your book will be sorely mislead.

I love listening to the In Black and White episodes. They are well put together, with the story flowing so well each episode draws you in and carries you back in time. The pictures painted in the storytelling are so vivid. You can’t help but learn new and interesting things.
WimmeraWardy via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/09/21
This podcast does an excellent job editing the stories and Jen asks the right questions at the right times to move the narrative on. However, the intros where key elements of the upcoming tale are recounted spoil the suspense and give away too much. These intros are completely unnecessary.

Annoyingly the guy telling the story said “antartic”, omitting the second c. So bad.
drbi,gg via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/26/21
Great content but get rid of the host or train her in interviewing and podcasting technique!!!! Too loud and too aggressive in her interviewing, in others she dead ends the guest (eg. ‘..well thank you for that...’) Another aspect that needs work is the music. Playing happy music while covering...Read full review »

This podcast had the potential to be a good piece of listening, but was spoilt by the chap who does most of the talking - I can’t stand a gabbler. I had to set the speed down to .8 so my blood pressure didn’t rise as I yelled ‘stop gabbling!’. Once that was settled, it got better, but I kept...Read full review »

An outstanding podcast about an outstanding woman. I can’t imagine the terror that she must have felt in the ocean and I am blown away by her ensuing fortitude, grace and dignity. Vivienne Bullwinkle makes me so very to be a nurse.
