Presenter past his prime
The content of In Our Time is brilliant. The format is excellent but is marred by Melvin Bragg’s decreased enunciation (he mumbles) and constant interruption of the guests speaking. If one can ignore those two issues, the programme is excellent.

In Our Time makes me feel like I am back in college, attending an interesting course in the humanities. The topics stretch the mind. This is a most enjoyable series - spoilt only by contributors' (and especially historians') insitence on talking about past events in the present tense. Sometimes this leads to hilarious convolutions within single sentences. Do they think that R4 listeners cannot cope with past tenses?Read full review »
