Simply addictive
After reaching the end of book one (Call of the Herald) I wasted no time in downloading this one, and as I suspected I was not disappointed. Brian demonstrates a real talent for a story with excellent pace; with perfect balance between light heartedness and deep emotion, thrilling action and laid back enjoyment. I honestly didn't even consider "comparing" his writing to any other author, his unique writing has its own place in fantasy fiction - but for those of my friends who kept asking for an example of what his books are like, I would have to say his writing is akin to Fiona McIntosh, with both characters you love to love, and those you love to hate, set in a world just begging for your imagination to run wild. Truly excellent

The second volume in a great trilogy. The world that Brian Rathbone creates is rich and deep. This is such a wonderful escape that the only downside is not wanted to stop.

It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. It is worth a listen.
