Has potential, but very unprofessional
I first found out about this podcast via a FANTASTIC article on the new Fast and Furious attraction coming to the Backlot next year. I was so impressed with the coverage, particularly the model of the show building, that I couldn't wait to check out the podcast. Unfortunately, the same quality of that article is not reflected in the show. SOUND QUALITY: Simply put, it varies WILDLY. Some hosts are extremely loud while others are the complete polar opposite. Some speakers sound like they’re speaking into a muffled phone, and others have far too much treble. Listening to the podcast without constantly managing the volume button is a rarity. Better quality mics and perhaps some editing in post are severely needed. SHOW FORMAT: There never really seems to be one. I used to never understand why so many podcasts were so strict with their time limits, since I could stop and start at any time, but I get it with this show. A lot of tangents, running jokes, and sidetracks happen in nearly every episode. With episodes exceeding 2 hours, it can become draining. The show could benefit quite a bit from tightening down on subject matter and cutting out a lot of the filler. I enjoy the banter the hosts have, but moderation is the key. CONTENT: This is where the potential of the show shines through. I get most of my USH information from blogs, podcasts, and sites that are not USH specific. The amount of detail and historical context, as well as political insight into the company and the surrounding neighborhood is almost never talked about anywhere else. I love this content, and when the show focuses on this aspect, it’s great. PERSONALITIES: Chris Lord and Jonathan Green are by far the most knowledgeable and insightful. Their shows definitely have the most interesting content. The other contributors unfortunately, are not as fun, informative, or interesting to listen to. For example, Adriana Morgan states that she is a former Cast Member of Disneyland, however, she consistently provides wrong information about the parks. In a discussion about lap bars on Minion Mayhem vs. Peter Pan, she said that guests are only 3 feet off the ground in the Disneyland attraction. This is certainly not true. Jon Fu recently went on a trip to Disneyland and remarked that the older attractions were well taken care of. Adriana said it was because Disney “has no soul”. Wouldn’t that be indicative of a company that WOULDN’T take care of their attractions? Whether it be negative comments about other theme park sites and blogs, or just general commentary, she seems to mostly provide a very negative aspect to the show. Jon Fu seems to mainly provide tangents and jokes that may or may not be funny per your own sense of humor. It’s usually a miss for me. CONCLUSION There are some positives, but the show needs a lot of work and polish. Too much dead time, dropped connections, audio issues, and ramblings. The constant “send your angry emails to…” get very old, but that may be because I downloaded all the podcasts and have been listening to them back to back. As they are likely the only podcast to deal specifically with USH, I hope to see the podcast match the quality of the Inside Universal site. With so many big things happening at Universal Studios Hollywood, I imagine there to be many fans who’ll be looking for a podcast that focuses on such a unique park.Read full review »

I love to listen to these podcasts but the echoing audio effect is really annoying. it distracts me from the podcast.

The volume on the last episode is way too low. At full volume I could barely hear the podcast on my phone. If I crank up the volume when listening in my car, my other notifications on my phone are super loud.
