Real doctrine, real Christianity...
I had first heard Issues, etc. back in 1996 while working as a DJ in a small Christian radio station. At the time, I was a full-bore Pentecostal who knew very little about Lutheranism. Through regular exposure, I became more and more immersed in, and impressed with, the Lutheran exposition given by (then host) Don Matzat, and even when he and his guests challenged assumptions I had and made me irate at times, the topics and approach still had impressed me. Now, almost twenty years later, I love Lutheranism and Lutheran theology, and Issues, etc. is a major reason for this. Under the helm of Pastor Todd Wilken, Issues, etc. continues to put out high quality programming, with podcasts dealing with various issues related to the Christian church as a whole, while preserving an uncompromising and distinctly Lutheran approach in the discussion of each topic. The guests are top notch and no-nonsense, as is Pastor Wilken, and by the end of each show the listener will have heard arguments based upon Scripture for the positions taken. The listener may disagree with the final conclusions, but there is no doubt that those conclusions have been come to through careful study of the Word of God. This show is a must-listen for Christians, even if one is not a Lutheran. It engages the mind as well as the heart, and challenges the listener to think Biblically. Highly recommended.

This is fantastic radio-living in an area that isn't served by Lutheran Public Radio (never knew there was such a thing!) it's great to finally feel a personal and up-to-the minute connection to the issues of the day as seen by fellow Lutherans! Refreshingly confessional and so far always...Read full review »
