“I had an epiphany this morning in a Bible class at a church I serve as organist. I had raised my hand to comment on the topic, and as I was speaking, I could see the "light bulbs" starting to glow over my classmates' heads. A lady who had been through the church's school and had never until that day been in a Bible class caught me afterward and asked me, "How did you get so smart?" I was humbled by the question. I gave her a one-word answer: "Church." But, that was only partly true. While I had a good catechesis from my pastor in junior high school, I was never part of a church youth group. I've neither pursued nor completed a degree in theology. I'm an "Issues, Etc." listener. That means I sit at the feet of Lutheran pastors, seminary professors, exegetes, theologians, and Lutheran experts in other fields on a daily basis. They come into my living room, into my iPod, or into my vehicle and give me their absolute best stuff, often completely rearranging my mental furniture, but at no cost to me. The pastors of the congregations I serve put Christ in my ears and Christ on my lips. "Issues, Etc." puts Christ in my ears every other day of the week. Host Todd Wilken often comments that callers to the show are the smartest listeners in radio. Is it any wonder why? "Issues, Etc." has the smartest listeners in radio because they have the smartest guests in radio to point every listener to the Christian worldview and Christ crucified for our sins. "Issues, Etc." is the gold standard by which every other Christian talk show should be measured.”Read full review »
