The Kermode and Mayo of Cycling
Ever since Ned Boulting suggested a newly retired and slightly bewildered David Millar should add a few comments to the 2014 Tour de France the easy on air relationship of the pair has been growing into a thing of beauty. There is none of the bombast, banter or laddy bonhomie that you find in some sports broadcasts. Like Kermode and Mayo both Ned and David really know their stuff and discuss teams, riders and the sport in general with real insight, affection and fairness. This is witty and clever commentary on pro cycling and beyond. If you which riders are ‘floaters’ and ‘bafflers’ the 2019 Vuelta provided both. And it’s not just cycling. Episode 18 is a real gem. In order to settle a gentle disagreement about whether earth bound asteroids can be deflected Ned contacts a cycling mate in Arizona who also happens to be a club rider. I have a feeling that Ned and David can probably find an expert in any subject who also rides a bike so this part of the show is set to grow.

The after work at the pub chat compared to the in work meeting that’s the TV show. Same crew but much more relaxed and unscripted. Love it!
