“I have been listening to these guys since the start and they are my weekly boost.
Unbelievable knowledge and experience of the NFL AND life! Jason and Osi are the reason I love the NFL and they have helped me build my knowledge up to a reasonable level. They have also opened my eyes to many different issues and offer reassurance that I am not the only one with the thought process of understanding why a person believes something different to you before attacking them with verbal abuse. Educated responses are much more refreshing!
Osi has some fantastic left field views which I completely agree with.
My view on the issue raised in this week’s podcast regarding racist abuse towards sports broadcasters in the UK is this. I have grown up as a huge football fan and you are taught to have hatred towards opposing fans and players with any abuse acceptable. Football is an easy game to follow and appeals to a range of classes and ethnicities which opens the door for all abuse, which I do not condone.
NFL on the other hand probably attracts an audience in the UK who enjoy a long format game such as cricket. This probably narrows down the audience as football requires a very short attention span and gives a short burst of entertainment. Those who watch the long format games in the UK generally do so for the social aspect which includes integrating with the opposition supporters to have educated debates. Therefore they are less likely to abuse ex players, commentators and opposing fans with uneducated abuse based on opinion.
I have very much fallen out of love for top level football and only follow my local team, Crewe Alexandra. NFL is my new found love and I can’t get enough of it!
Keep up the fantastic work guys, I hope you bring back the mid week highlights show - waiting for the day before the next games is a bit garbage!”
