“I have searched for a Bible study type podcast for a long time. I don't mind a sermon if it is good, but I grew up in the church and there is a point where you feel you have heard them all. I felt it was time to move on...but move on to what? Enter 'Jesus at 2am,' which I found quite randomly. I chose it because the sub-heading was 'intellectual integrity and authentic faith.' I have seen authentic faith movements come and go, but the idea of being an intellectual Christian (for whatever reason) tends to not appeal to people. I, however, am a history nut, and in my own spiritual walk I felt that at some point it would be really nice to be able to tie in that love of learning. I read C.S. Lewis.... but then I had a baby and I needed something I could listen to during the day. So I found this. These are 'sermons,' but are more like class lectures (funny and interesting lectures) in that they are done in a series (there are a couple different ones available.) I go back and forth between a couple of them depending on what I am looking for that day. The 'Understanding the Bible' is nice in that it gives you the big picture of the Bible, which as this Kirk person will tell you is something that is sorely missing in the church today. You can hear a sermon on Corinthians every single Sunday for a year, but no one talks about the Bible in terms of what it ALL means....how to put all the pieces together. The 'Gospels' series is more detailed in terms of giving historical contextualization as to what the Gospels are and why they are written the way they are. I have already learned more about the Bible in a week then I have in 20 years of going to church. The nice thing is that none of this is too hard to understand. Kirk likes coffee (apparently), but any pretension stops ther. He seems down to earth and makes his talks accessible.”Read full review »

“I love this podcast. Kirk has made spiritual formation an engaging topic, which is as it should be, but I've found is not often the case. I really appreciate his gift of open reflection on how God has shaped him, in order to help us as listeners learn how to do the same with our lives. Thank...”Read full review »

“This podcast is such a gift. I randomly typed in "Jesus" one day into my podcast search box because I was longing to learn more about this ever elusive Jesus that I just couldn't really wrap my mind around. Reading my bible was confusing, and I just left like something was not...”Read full review »
