For anyone who is curious about where we have come from and why we behave in some our most inscrutable ways: This series by Noel Armstrong is the most useful that I’ve listened to by any of the innumerable legions of podcasters. He packs so much information with rapid fire dry wit that repeated...Read full review »

Fabulous podcast. As a veterinarian I love the episodes on worst years to be alive, viruses and bacteria. Gosh - I love it all. So well presented, researched with solid “gallow’s humour” and great topics. Wish when I went to university all my professors made bacteria and disease carrying vectors...Read full review »

This is just a a brilliant podcast. The series on the historical Jesus was utterly fascinating and totally new to me. The stuff on Mao was terrific but really it all is. I don’t like the interview pods as much, but just listening to Armstrong tell stories and speculate and philosophize is healthy...Read full review »

Always had an interest in history but find it hard to commit so much time to do the research myself and listening to others was quite boring, till I came across this podcast. Clear, cheerful and actually makes me feel more knowledgeable each time I listen.

I stumbled upon this podcast by accident and feel like I haven’t quite earned how much I’ve enjoyed it. I think the search term was “anthropology”. The episode on the sea peoples made me a fan. The episode on Sam Harris made me a more enthusiastic one. Thank you sir.

I don’t know why, but I kinda really dig history. Usually when I roam for new history podcasts I run into shows that are “stuffy”. The shows are jam packed with information without any personality.
