Exceptional advice and knowledge from Jason. Ran a few ultras but never really had a proper training plan. The podcast is fantastic alongside the book Training Essentials for Ultrarunning by Jason Koops. Cannot recommend them both enough. Many thanks Jason

Learnt a lot from this podcast.

Honestly, the info is top notch, read his book and listened to the podcast for a long time. However, the method of delivery and the unneeded hostility towards anyone that does different from him (endorsements) gets in the way of what is extremely helpful information. Unfortunately the greatest...Read full review »

I used to cherry pick some of these episodes and learned some things, however take a listen to episode 161 (2023 preview) before you get too far into this guy’s ecosystem. He aggressively targets other well known coaches and podcasts by name and is quite nasty towards them. One of the things I...Read full review »

Jason doesn’t hide behind anything and tells it like it is. He never makes talks down to us! I have learned so much from his pod!!

Jason Koop brings down to Earth the up-do-date knowledge about sports science relevant to endurance athletes. His ability to let the experts discuss nuances of their science and translate it into practical, actionable training interventions and racing insights is fantastic. He is generous with...Read full review »

Great podcast with the science of ultra running clearly described in layman terms. This is the place to get the hype about supplements and modalities debunked or promoted based on scientific research in a commercial free discussion with top scientists in the fields.

I just can’t get past the condescending narcissism any longer.

As a coach and athlete, this is probably my favorite podcast to stay informed and hear meaningful discussions around endurance sports. Useful not only for ultrarunners, but for all endurance athletes

So much fascinating and useful information. I’m working on educating myself about the newest research on ultra running this year, after years of relying on a coach, and this podcast has been such a fantastic resource.

There is so much information out there, a lot of which that is conflicting, that it’s great to have a resource like this where you can trust what you have been told, even if the answer’s that there is no simple answer to whatever the topic is. I like the fact that Koop gently pushes the guest for...Read full review »

Interesting guests. It seems like the host wants to move between technical/scientific language and ‘layperson’ language. If so, I respect the intent, but in the process he makes offensive assumptions about the listener, the running community at large. He also makes more accurate assumptions, but...Read full review »

Always high quality guests and content. Research heavy, but able to bring it back to practical applications primarily for ultra marathon runners. No ads, no sponsored content. Unbiased apart from his loyalty to CTS Training.

Used to enjoy this pod. It’s one thing to be critical and have hot takes but to call someone out in such a condescending way and not offer any feedback is just bad form. Frankly I got major narcissist vibes from all of episode 161 and it was gross. Not what this community needs.

I was enjoying some episodes of this podcast until episode 161, when this guy put up a 15 minute episode just to talk negatively about other coaches and writers. Just listened to the Jan 2023 monologue, which was a shameless, unfounded, and self-serving attack on members of the trail community. This is insecurity masquerading as integrity. I’ve lost all respect for Jason Koop as a coach and as a podcaster. Not cool dude.

So many running podcasts have done episodes on strength training and trust me I’ve listened to all of them. Koopcast’s latest two part series on strength training was THE BEST, most comprehensive and easy to follow summary I’ve heard on the topic. Major kudos!

On koopcast you listen to the truth, the science, the experience and the honesty, without adds from sponsors or any of the commercial bs that makes all the other trail and ultra running podcasts so hard to listen to. So glad i subscribed. 100% recommended

Science, facts, with focus on what is known and what is not - without nonsense advice, with great guests, a great companion to planning my training - along with Jason Koop’s book on ultra running essentials. Worth every minute.

Jason takes an evidence-based approach to discussing all aspects of running with his guests. I’m a lifelong runner but new to the ultra world. Jason’s podcast has been an amazing window into everything I didn’t know about running and then some! He’s got a great sense of humor too. Highly recommend!

As a lifelong athlete, I love the content this podcast delivers. Koop brings true experts to his show: doctors, nutritionists, scientists, etc. So you know you’re getting credible information.
