Disappointing and gender stereotyping
‘Toxic mums’ fell into stereotypes of what mums ‘should’ be and what relationships with daughters ‘should’ be. Emily suffered domestic violence- 1800 respect number should have been given and behaviour called such rather than toxic. Clare suffered a difficult relationship with family (her words). Why frame as ‘toxic mum’? Dads - if relevant to these women’s stories - get off scott free.
