Kenja episode a plus before watching Stateless
I revisited this episode in the context of the ABC TV series currently screening on Sunday nights, Stateless, which Sarah mentions in passing was under development while she was doing her own investigations of Kenja. I also revisited the article Robert Manne wrote for The Monthly nearly 15 years ago about the Cornelia Rau case, which Sarah also refers to, indeed quotes from extensively and to good effect. I would have to say my enjoyment of Stateless was much enhanced by both revisits. If you haven't listened to any other episodes in the series, this one can be a good place to start, IMHO. Although if you are expecting the usual melodramatic presentation of sects/cults, you should be aware that Sarah's style is decidedly downbeat, but I find her restraint, her "just the facts, ma'am" style, a decided plus in these hyper-partisan times.Read full review »
