The water level in Suicide Basin is rising quickly after the recent Mendenhall River flood, potentially posing another risk to Juneau. Communities are scrambling to find ways to keep these essential services open.  Alaska is in its 12th straight year of population decline, largely due to reduced migration and an aging population. Experts are concerned about long-term trends, with fewer new residents arriving and employers increasingly relying on foreign workers to meet demand in key industries.
