Digging around in the dirty mechanics of writing
I’ve listened to a lot of radio programmes, and more latterly podcasts about books and writers. Usually they are from a reader’s perspective, and when, if at all, they get down to asking about how writers write, even if they avoid romanticising about ‘the muse’, they so often seem to perpetuate the myth of writing as a mysterious process where characters seem to emerge unbidden, and the writer is a mere conduit for stories that ‘need to be told’. Matt and Parul of LWS have created something really special. These interviews are like listening in on an MFA course, or like eavesdropping on a convo between brilliant creatives about their work, creative process, hopes, dreams, fears, etc. This show is so binge-able! Can’t wait for new episodes!
