In September, we traveled to Virginia to see Ghoti Hook play a killer reunion show. We also had a chance to chat with the dudes (Joel, Adam, and Jamie) before they went on stage. And more recently, we sat down with Shadow Producer Jason from Unoriginal Vinyl to discuss some behind the scenes stories about the Five Iron Frenzy box set.

Unfiltered and vulnerable bros are refreshing

Come for the music and stay for the non-toxic masculinity on display as well as political hot-takes, beer and candy reviews, surprise weddings, honest mental health updates and unpaid Hamms product placement.

If you don’t like this podcast, then you don’t understand it.

Growing up steeped in the stew that was 90’s Christian alternative music and the culture surrounding it, this pod caught my attention a couple years ago. I dabbled in a few episodes, but really became a Magnified Podder for Life with It’s Hard to Find a Podcast. (Pedro the Lion and Starflyer 59 have been, and continue to be, two of my favorite bands since high school.) John and Andrew speak about music, sounds, and lyrics in such a descriptive and compelling way that it draws me in even if I don’t particularly care for a band they’re dissecting. The prologue to each episode generally includes current events, personal life updates, and fun food surprises. (If you don’t like this part of the pod, do you even care about John and Andrew?!) I couldn’t recommend a better podcast for stirring up nostalgia and helping it fit into current life. You might even discover some new (or old) music along the way.
