This is my favourite podcast. I started reading all the BPWs in chronological order last winter (I’m up to 1982) and James/Jo have been the best literary companions. I love the way they riff off each other and how they weave in their own analysis and interpretation without intellectual snobbery...Read full review »

Really interesting podcast for any book lover. Both hosts and engaging and have their own perspectives on the books discussed. I particularly love the sparring they do when they differ in opinion. It’s respectful and humourous and makes it a fun listen! Thank you

Loved the one where they discussed the shortlists. In general like that the hosts are different in all sorts of ways.

Am really enjoying this podcast and the varied approach to the topic of Booker. Presenters are articulate and share a good amount of opinion without being overly opinionated. I do think they could have made A LOT more effort on reading the 2023 Booker long list - one book read between both...Read full review »

It is nearly impossible for a non-UK listener to understand him, and she laughs way too much! I can not listen which disappoints me terribly.

All fab so far. Not expecting to enjoy Amber Spyglass one but really did - and may even read the book now! Fascinating discussion on translation in The Vegetarian. Longlist one had great summaries. Keep making the podcasts - I’m running out! And the Love Island one was really clever and amusing...Read full review »

Just a quick note to say I really enjoyed the first episode of this podcast, an excellent discussion about two very different books. Im sure both authors will be pleased to know I have just bought the pair on the strength of this podcast! Looking forward to episode two..

Love learning about Booker books past and nearly present. My TBR pile has grown on the back of how these two presenters summarise and then discuss each book. Funny, warm and engaging. Keep up the the good work.

I love this. Jo and James are so much fun :)

I totally agree with Jo, the character is not mad. The book acutely speaks to the experience of any woman who has felt they had to suppress their authentic selves and desires, who have felt dominated or controlled by men, or who have generally contorted themselves to meet societal norms. Breaking...Read full review »

Always of interest to hear about the Booker novels and their authors. Can get a bit gushy at times, a little more critical spirit would be welcome.

The interviewees (aside from nominees themselves) appear to be less and less relevant. Maybe this is an attempt to appeal to a less literary listener? Not sure but enjoying this season less than others. Would also love to hear some controversy. As this is the official booker podcast it’s all very...Read full review »

I have LOVED everything about the Booker Prize from the judging process to trying to read through the Longlist and guess the winner. This is a podcast created for Uber book nerd. And it is wonderful.
