Diverse hosts, each fantastic in their own way!
This is one of my favourite manga podcasts - highly recommended! What I love most about it is that the hosts’ different backgrounds and geographical locations are often reflected in their discussions, making them more nuanced and interesting. Dakazu brings some excellent translation notes as he’s fluent in Japanese, as well as being able to bring up untranslated works by some creators as he follows Japanese releases. This gives us a bigger picture view of their work. Darfox brings some really insightful and compassionate takes on many of the books discussed (stuff I’d never have thought of but then completely agree with), as well as excellent Spanish edition/dub commentary every now and then! As I’m over the same side of the Atlantic as Seamus, it's great to hear a European voice in the mix. Also, he just doesn’t take any crap and is always on a quest for something new and non-derivative. I want to hear about those things, and I appreciate when he pulls books up for being stereotypical or pandering. Morgana has some unique insights into the books discussed coming from a career background in selling comics. As she’s also a parent, it’s valuable to hear that point of view as well. She also brings a fab sense of humour and infectious love for the macabre :) Definitely give this show a go - if you like it there are literally hundreds of back episodes to catch up on too (which is what I’m doing now…).Read full review »

Because Dakazu is able to read...Read full review »

Found this podcast through their retrspective on goodnight punpun. Really like hearing them discuss the manga and its nice seeing them give love to manga that may be less known among fans of one piece or naruto.

Manga Machinations provides in-depth discussion of each manga, almost scene-by-scene, where the hosts discuss not just what happens, but also how the story makes them feel. It's very fun to hear the hosts talk about whether they expected certain story twists!Read full review »
